Puget Sound Music Therapy offers individual music therapy sessions. The length of the sessions varies from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Factors such as activity tolerance, age, and types of goals are taken into considerations to determine the session length.
In each session, a board-certified music therapist will design and facilitate music-based interventions (e.g. instrument playing, singing songs, movement to music, or active listening) to address individualized goals for the client. Goals may address to improve and/or maintain:
Functional motor skills (Gross/fine motor, balance & coordination)
Speech, Language, and/or Communication skills
Cognitive skills (attention, memory, executive functioning)
Physiological responses (pain/nausea management)
Our treatment interventions are individually designed to each patient’s needs by using neurologic music therapy (NMT) techniques.
